"Striving for a Sustainable Future is One of Our Priorities"

Rector of KTO Karatay University, Prof. Dr. Fevzi Rifat Ortaç, emphasized the importance of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2023 results in assessing the environmental sensitivity and sustainability of universities. He stated, “At KTO Karatay University, promoting eco-friendly practices and striving for a sustainable future are among our top priorities. The results we have achieved in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2023 reflect the success of our efforts in this direction. Through our Solar Energy Power Plant Project, approximately 10% of our university's annual electricity consumption is sourced from renewable energy. Thanks to around 780 solar panels on our campus, we generate 312 kW of electricity annually. Additionally, through the 'Zero Waste Project,' we separate waste for recycling with specialized units and have earned the 'Zero Waste Certificate' from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, making us one of the few universities in Turkey to achieve this. It is a great source of pride for us to see the fruits of these efforts. I would like to thank all our academics, administrative staff, and students who have contributed to the university’s success. We will continue to move forward with determination to rank among the world’s most prestigious, sustainable, and environmentally conscious universities.”
