As KTO Karatay University, we have adopted environmental awareness and sustainability as top priorities, and we see the healthy and efficient use of our resources as one of our primary goals. In this direction, various units have been established within our university to ensure the separation of waste according to its types and to effectively contribute to recycling processes within the framework of the Zero Waste Project. As a result of these efforts, we earned the 'Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate' awarded by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on September 28, 2020, thus certifying our environmentally friendly approach.
Within the scope of the project, data entries related to our university are regularly made through the Zero Waste Information System, and these data are meticulously monitored. The electronic, battery, plastic, paper, glass, and metal waste belonging to our university are managed in accordance with recycling processes, and after being stored for 72 hours, they are delivered to the KONATIK Company with an official report. These deliveries are also regularly recorded and tracked through the Integrated Environmental Information System (IEIS).
Zero waste bins are available in all buildings of our university, and a total of 96 zero waste bins have been strategically placed across the campus. This ensures the correct separation of waste and their inclusion in recycling processes. Additionally, special piggy bank systems have been allocated for biodegradable waste generated in tea kitchens. This waste is processed with the compost machine within our university and converted into natural fertilizer, providing environmental benefits.
With these comprehensive efforts, as KTO Karatay University, we follow an environmental policy that respects nature and promotes the efficient use of resources, contributing to a sustainable future.
