Solar Power Plant Project

KTO Karatay University’s Solar Power Plant Project was initiated in 2015 to meet the university’s electricity needs within the scope of the Mevlana Development Agency’s Financial Support Program and was completed in 2017. A grant of 572,500 TL was provided for the project with a budget of 683,000 TL. With 780 solar panels placed on the roof of Block A of the university, 312,410 kW of energy is produced annually, which meets 10% of the university’s total energy needs.

The Solar Power Plant Project, which was established at our university with the Mevlana Development Agency Financial Support Program, is a project in which our university produces electricity from alternative energy sources. The project aims to benefit from renewable energy sources, reduce energy costs and, most importantly, use clean, environmentally friendly energy sources.

The project, which was applied for in 2015, was completed in 2017. The budget of the KTO Karatay University Solar Power Plant Project is 683,000.00 TL and a grant of 572,500.00 TL was provided. Within the scope of the project, 780 solar energy panels were placed on the roof of Block A in our Central Campus. Currently, 312,410 kW of energy is produced annually from these panels and approximately 10% of our university's total energy needs are provided from alternative energy sources within the scope of the project.

In addition to contributing to energy efficiency, the Solar Power Plant Project also offers our students in the Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Energy Management Departments the opportunity to observe the system on site. In this context, a Solar Power Plant (GES) Laboratory has been established within our university. The technical details that should be in the plant are in miniature in the GES Laboratory. Students are provided with detailed information about the working mechanism of the plant with panels showing the working method of the Solar Power Plant. Energy monitoring, daily energy production and power line diagrams can be followed thanks to the devices in the laboratory.
